So I have tried looking online, and I am just really confused about the NREMT.
I am currently (just got it) certified as a BASIC in Massachusetts. I live on the border with CT. I would like to take/challenge the CT test and become certified in both. Does anyone have any clue if I can just challenge the test, or do I have to become NREMT?

Thanks
Josh

If it's 6 months or less from the date you got your MA cert you can take the NREMT written and get your NREMT. If it's greater than 6 months you have to take both the practical and the written.

See the document at this link:
http://www.ct.gov/dph/lib/dph/ems/pdf/emsapp2a_(3)_fillable.pdf
If you go to the bottom of page 5, 2(d), it appears you can apply for direct reciprocity using your MA certification.

From there, it's quite smple, just fill out the application included in the document at that link, and send to the appropriate parties (I believe MA OEMS then CT OEMS).

FWIW, whether you get this reciprocity or not, I think it's very valuable to hold a NR card, if only for easy transfer into most states, for MCI or DMAT response, or if your plans change in the future.

Good Luck!
