Hi Ya
2 nd time lucky, just wrote all this then was cut off & lost the lot !
My name is Darren I have worked as an EMT for East Anglian Ambulance, Norfolk UK for a few years now, in fact the last week of my Tech course was during 9/11 so will never forget that week.
I also am a staff responder while off duty.
I would have hopefully progressed to Paramedic by now, as a rule the NHS pays for most of our training, it seems now our Trust wants us to pay for our own degree course that many of us refuse to do.
I noticed from reading many forums the past week while on nights you have a lot of ex forces online, that’s what got me into this line of work. I served as an Infantry solider for six years becoming a CMT, I then saw the light at the end of the tunnel & became a civilian working as a nurse for a while, until I was called up for Gulf 2 “BUGGER”
On my profile I listed myself as EMT-I, as you probably know we only have Tech’s / Para’s, not sure what level of care your grades work at, will have to read some more forums to find out.
The main reason I have registered is to gather information with respect to moving to Florida, we have been thinking it over since our last visit in SEP 04, apparently we missed a slight breeze in Florida that year. The better half who is an A & E (ER) Nurse at the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital has friends on west coast of Florida. We are coming over again Sep 25 this year for 3 weeks to hit all the parks, so no midnight sirens around quality in plaza please.
Anyway thanks, great web site.
