I searched the accrediting website for EMT and paramedic programs.
I did not see Lenoir listed as an accredited school. Any info?

It is in the process of accreditation. Ill find the reference later. but you will be able to take the nremt test.

Lenoir is being accredited

Lenoir is being accredited, I am glad to say--if you search the accreditation website, it is under review, which means it can be used to test NREMT

I was wondering the same thing since I had talked with them. I saw on the NREMT website the changes to NR-P, however CAAHEP is reviewing for accreditation which is a plus, so you can take the NREMT.

Here is a question though. When I apply for reciprocity in Washington state will I be able to get it? Washington requires caahep accreditation. Is a letter of review good enough? I plan on calling the DOH tomorrow but was wondering if anyone had an answer tonight... call me impatient.

So update for anyone who might migrate to Washington state. I spoke to the lady who processes the paramedic applications and she states that as long as you attended the school while they had their letter of review (even if it was denied accreditation) they will be able to grant reciprocity. She did say try to get a copy of the letter so you can prove you were at the school while it was "approved."

Granted this was more for my own benefit. But I wanted to share so the information is out there!

Thanks man, that is good information to know (I am currently finishing the program). I am betting that other states will view it the same way (as long as it is in review they will view it as accredited).

Good thing to know! I will be starting the program in July so I'm sure i'll figure these things out shortly.

FireWA- who did you speak with at the WA DOH ? I'm a NREMT-Paramedic, and am a Licensed Paramedic (LP, just a regular paramedic with a degree) from Texas. My school is in the letter of review phase with the CAAHEP and had been issued the letter before I graduated.

Washington State will not certify me as a paramedic. I've spoke with different people at the office and have mailed in my application several times. Still won't certify me. My school is still in the LOR phase, and has never been denied.

So I'd definitively double check whatever you've been told before committing to a non accredited school so you don't find yourself in my position. Luckily I'm also a police officer so I'm doing that FT and not out of a job.

I spoke to the wadoh. Specifically to the lady who processes the paramedic applications. She said to mail in the letter of review with your application. Call was doh to check. That is what I was told.

Letter of Review

Yes, a letter of review status means that you can take the NREMT, and become certified.
