6.9 Richter scale, 16 miles ssw Guadalupe Vicoria, Baja, Mexico (extension of San Andreas graben including Salton Sea and Gulf of California).

I have a friend in a fifth floor apartment in Newport Beach. Said it felt like he was at sea on a calm day. Scared the bejeezus out of his Beagle.

I was visiting family in L.A. and I felt my first quake! You could actually feel the plates moving! I heard 1 killed and 100 hurt in Baja, Mexico.

I have Johny Cash's "Ring of Fire" running through my head. Why because I live on the ring of fire and it seems that the quakes are making their way up it to the Pacific NW. (think someone said seattle is over due for a big quake...)

We counted upwards of 36 earthquakes here in Alaska yesterday. Only three of them were above a 3.0 though... didn't feel a single one. The last one I felt was over a year ago... around January 09, my room shook for about 30 seconds when I was living down in Anchorage. That was what they said triggered the volcanic activity we had all through the first half of last year, I believe...
