Just Got Accepted Into Medic. ^_^

a year...good luck buddy it took 2 years of mine(with everything) lol...congrats man...just remember there is a light at the end of the tunnel

Good Luck.

Meh, I noticed no difference in social life aside from the few weeks I packed my clinicals in to.

Than again, I had no life before school either...

12 months here, graduation coming in August. Starting in on cardiac and pharmacology and I thought ABG's and ETCO2 was tough.

I am trying to start the general education first then go to medic school.

Here in Canada we require our BLS personnel to have between 4 mos to 1 yr education. For ALS anywhere from 2 to 4 yrs education is required.

Personally, I love our system. We don't have to worry about a fresh EMT-A with the ink barely dry on their cert walking in to medic school with zero field experience. In Alberta, you won't even be looked at to be accepted into medic school unless you have a minimum of 1 year of BLS work at the EMT-A level.

i was a basic just as i started medic school and was at the top of my class., and now licensed first and practicing in the field...(but this is a discussion for another day)...search for the thread...again congrats buddy.

Normally I would say it is a bad thing but since you are in Canada, your BLS program is longer than the U.S. Paramedic and there is an education part to it. At least when you are working in the field before going on to the next level, you have a better idea about A&P and disease processes which makes your assessments a little more meaningful. In the U.S., when you come out of a 110 hour EMT-B course, you only have a little training in first aid and not much education for processing what you assess. Thus, it shouldn't be necessary to work for several years practicing few basic skills.
