Inquiry after ambulance runs over motorcyclist in road

The patient who had been in the ambulance was assessed and treated by a doctor at the scene and did not need to go to hospital for treatment, the GWAS spokesman said.

So the ambulance had emergency lighting activated while transporting a non-critical patient? Is this standard procedure in the UK?

The story is not quite clear on this, the PT was being transported to hospital, yes. My understanding is that PT was assessed for any injuries from the accident and didn't need to go to hospital for those injuries. Whether they still needed to go to hospital for treatment for original C/C it doesn't say.

I am not sure on the protocol of driving with emergency lights only.
