Injured driver dies in ambulance crash in East Sussex

Interesting that the patient died, and the two Paramedics only sustained minor injuries. Usually it seems to be the other way around because the patient is better secured than the attendants are.

I wonder if that patient wouldn't have died regardless of the crash. The story states the patient sustained life-threatening injuries and that a police officer was driving while both paramedics were treating the patient. In my case, if I need another pair of hands, my patient is usually circling the drain. That's not always the case, but it's typically the reason why I want another paramedic or even experienced EMT with me.

That's how I read the information given as well.
It may have also been a case that the second crash (of the ambulance), delayed advanced hospital treatment for this patient.
Given the horrendous weather conditions over in England at the moment and the police officer not use to driving a larger vehicle.
I can only assume that is maybe why they left the road, in the first place.

Cheers Enjoynz
