An Indiana firefighter and his partner were returning to quarters today in a FD ambulance when an oncoming Jeep Cherokee crossed the center line, striking the EMS unit head on. The driver of the Jeep and one of the firefighters were pronounced dead on the scene. Read the complete story here. Rest in Peace, brother...

I was just coming on here to post about this. I work with a guy that used to work for Brown Township FD. Tomorrow we are going out there with an engine and an ambulance to staff one of the fire houses for them.

I just got back from the hospital that they took the other firefighter to, after dropping off a patient of my own. Wasn't really able to find out how he is doing though.

Sending prayers out to the friends, family, and co-workers...

Please let them know we're thinking about them...

My thoughts and prayers go to those folks today and into the night......-_-

I saw that in the news broadcast that other departments were covering for the township department. Fantastic, wonderful thing to do for them. Thank you.

My thoughts and prayers are with everyone touched by this tragedy . Though it's always a possibility , when we lose one of our own , we all hurt . Does anybody know if they've gotten any CIS debriefings yet ?

Their cheif and trustee have been very proactive in making sure they are all taken care of. They have made people available for them to talk to, and have been very accessable themselves to the entire department.

The injured firefighter had originally been listed in serious condition, but as of yesterday had been downgraded to good condition. No idea what injuries he had though, and it didn't seem appropriate to ask about it when we were down there yesterday.
