Long story short, my ego and circumstances taught me a lesson and I ended up on the hunt for a good job. This took me from
Oklahoma to Texas, and landed me at Acadian. Its not bad, but I just feel like I've lost the passion for EMS I used to have. The for-profit, total medicine-in-motion, ambulance driver expectations here just aren't what I want, and I am finding myself wanting more...more respect, more responsiblity, more respect, and of course, more money, but without literally living at work.

Thinking of changing jobs already.

Have you looked into working at a hospital? Some here in central texas are hiring medics to essentially play the role of an RN in the ER.

I love the job of a paramedic. Just not the Acadian Way.

Keep your ear to the ground for WilCo. Will probably be the only place you'll be satisfied. That, or in the air. I've heard good things about Kendall Co, but I couldn't give any specifics.

They test on the 9th, so hopefully great.

I was considering applying and moving down to that area to work for Acadian. So I take it you dont recommend it and I should stay local

Acadian is better than most local transfer services and some 911s, and that's about it. Personally, unless you're at Guardian, the renal rodeo, or a small ift-heavy place, I wouldn't come over. In hindsight, I enjoyed Pafford more than here, and that's saying something.

It's not terrible, but the for-profit definitely shines through and the Texas operations are IFT-first. Not my cup of tea.

Wish me luck....potentially game-changing application is in.

Pafford has potential if the owners support the changes Jim is trying to make, but they have a long way to grow. The fact that Acadian manages to demoralize more than Pafford is an operating issue.
