How long do I have before I must take the practical and written exams?

Hi, I took an EMT course a year ago, I failed the practical exam on the first try. Now I want to retake the exam but I'm not sure if I still have enough time before the course expires. I could not reach my instructor, and I couldn't find anything over the web. Do I still have time to retake the practical and then take the written or is it too late?

My course ended in August 2009, I took the practical on September of that year, and it was in the state of Connecticut.

most states give you a year from the end of youre course...but i would check with your state.
