I'm looking for HEMS protocols from the US, especially those involving flight nurses. If you have a copy or could point me in the right direction it would be very helpful. Thanks.

Any specific things you are looking for? I somehow lost the digital copies of the protocols that I followed at the places I flew, but I could probably still answer questions about most of the specific algorithms.

Nothing specific, just looking to get a general idea of protocols for developing a set of protocols.

I just scrolled through protocols available through Paramedic Protocol Provider and I saw some options from Wayne County (Michigan), CareFlight (Texas), Travis County STAR Flight (Texas). If you don't have the app, you may be able to Google the protocols.

Thanks, I will check them out.

Lifeflight of Maine is an excellent program and publishes all of their protocols on their website. I believe these protocols apply to both Flight Paramedics and Flight Nurses.

Our county requires that our helicopters have a paramedic and an RN, but sets no scope of practice for the RN. The RN scope is left to our agency medical director, the paramedic is limited to the ALS scope of practice.

In PA there's a lot changing with hems and Sctu protocols. Soon critical care paramedics will have the same scope of practice but be limited to needing to work with a RN to function in this way.

Thanks everyone for the replies but I don't need the info anymore, project cancelled.

Put up a gofundme for a helicopter ERdoc. Let's make this happen o_O

I like that idea but I want one that can spray Haldol.
