Hey I am new to this forum and should have been active on here a long time ago, it seems like a great resource for everything EMS related. I have had my registry for about a year as a Basic emt, and have not been able to find work due to my driving record having a point and a couple of fender benders, one of which I was not at fault. I need to log ambulance hours and earn a few dollars while going to school in San Francisco. I have applied as an ER tech at UCSF, and St. Mary's.

I will be taking an EMT refresher course in November at City College of San Francisco and renewing CPR/AED via Red Cross. If anybody knows of any hospitals withing a 30 mile radius of SF that is hiring ER Techs or any Ambulance companies that have leniant insurance policies, please let me know as I am sick of waiting for this point to clear. Thanks

As far as I know (correct me if I am wrong) most Bay Area hospitals want ER Techs who have done phlebotomy in addition to EMT-B. I think positions are fairly hard to come by around here (I live in the Bay too), maybe if you don't have any luck you can work in for one of the ambulance companies? I know of a few - Protransport, royal, norcal - who are always looking for EMTs.
Either way, I wish you luck! :)

Check the Kaiser and Sutter Health job sites. Each website covers all of their hospitals.

Also, you might use ED Tech in your search. ER is an outdated term for some hosptials.

Phlebotomy would definitely be a worthwhile cert.

I called in to norcal and was told that they will accept a driving record with one point and one accident. I have two to my name. I dealt with some very dishonest people when I was involved in both accidents. Do you know if any of the other companies have non-driver positions because I know norcal doesnt? I would even be willing to work dispatch until that point dissapeared.
