Hey all, I'm starting an EMT class next month and have been picking up some of the different supplies that are required. I stopped at a car accident tonight on the way home from work and called 911, got the people out of the middle of the road, etc. etc.

Anyway, when I got back in my car I noticed my feet were cold. And it got me thinking towards my new career (hopefully) and figured it would be a good investment to buy a good pair of boots for EMS and life in general.

Does anyone have any suggestions for specific brands or models? I've been looking at Danner, but they are awfully expensive.

Well, im sure a lot of people on here will swear by some of the brands on galls.com. However, I've always been satisfied with my $39 pair of boots from Wal-Mart. Definitely go with something steel-toed regardless of the brand.

They are a little pricey but I love the Redwing 4473's with the zipper kit. I have worn them for 8 years. I just had to get a new pair, my 2nd, about 6 months ago because I caught one of my original boots on the stretcher frame and the steel toe was exposed. The fit is amazing and they last forever.

I just bought a pair of the Thorogood slip on style to try out. I want to wear them for a while before I give an opinion though.

Die hard 8 inch side zip dutys from sears also around $39, Iv had mine for about 5 months and they show minimal wear.

i like my 5.11's . i also went to the "walking company" store in the mall and grabbed a pair of new insoles. I can work all day and my feet feel like a million bucks.

Im not saying that a $39 dollar pair of boots arnt worth it, but if i have learned one thing in the army and on the road, always take care of you feet.

And get some good socks... and always have an extra pair!

It would be awesome if there was a search feature on this forum for questions that I'm sure must be asked a lot...

I wear the Oakley S.I. assault boots 8".... I love these boots. A little pricey but the comfort is worth it.

See that's just making it too damned easy for them. And where's the snark? You could have at least put it in LMGTFY or something like that.

I've been wearing Bates for about the last 10 years, and won't likely look back. I wear the below, Gore-tex and composite safety toe.

But LMGTFY would just bring up the EMTLife homepage. :-(

I did think of it though.
