I don't have enough info to turn this into a good scenario so I'm just going to pass on what I know. My co-workers 23 year old son is active and in very good shape (cyclist). He denies all drug use. He wasn't feeling "right" and had a near syncope while carrying some boxes at work. He went home to bed and was having general flu like symptoms with diaphoresis and fever. He was not better the next day and his roommate was sure that he lost consciousness.
He had a previous bought with flu symptoms about 3 weeks earlier.
ALS was called and a 12 lead showed a complete AV block with episodic asystole.
(sorry I have no bp or rate, but I *think* he was brady)

Lyme Carditis
4 days in ICU with IV antibio and a pacemaker. Plus 5 more days in hosp waiting for the blockage to recover.
one reason I'm passing this on is that this is the fifth incidence of lyme that I have heard about from friends in my area (southern new england) recently. You just never know when someone else might see the same thing!
