Had my first ALS callon my own, since finishing class and taking all the tests.
Called out for a pt. fallen. U/A found middle aged man incoherent responsive pretty much only to pain, lying on the ground. Bystanders said he kind of stumbled over the the bush and then lowered himself down in the shade. Loaded him in the ambulance, I started a line while others took vitals and put him on the monitor for me. Dexi came back as 41 mg/dl. I was like sweet, lets get an amp of D50 on board. He was a little slow to come around but he eventually did once in the ER ( we have a short tx time).
There was one part in there that was pretty scarey though because he said something along the lines of he was going to die, and then pretty much went unresponsive. I was like oh **** and checked a pulse/ looked at the monitor and he was still beating and breathing.
But overall i think the call went pretty good. just thought i would share.
have a good one!
