I'm not sure about the rest of you, but I sort of consider these emergencies as a class of their own. Sort of between traumatic and medical emergencies. It seems like environmental problems are just sort of glossed over in paramedic textbooks (both Brady and Mosby) as well. To supplement what I learned in medic school, I found a behemoth of a book called Wilderness Medicine by Paul S. Auerbach. This is apparently the gold standard of the field. However, it is incredibly cumbersome - which I suppose is both good and bad. I've enjoyed using it to fill in my blanks on the subject as anything you could possibly want to know about wilderness medicine is contained here.

Does anyone else know of any other resources that may be geared more to the prehospital provider?
