Hello I am new on here and didn't really know where to post this question. I have just completed all of my core classes for EMT/Paramedic school (Medical Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, English, Math) and I get to start the program in January. I am looking for work and I would really like to find something that will give me some experience in the career path that I have chosen. I am wanting to complete paramedic school. Does anyone have any suggestions about where I should start looking for work? I have talked to some people at local private ambulance companies but they only hire a few people who are not EMT's and the positions are all filled. Should I volunteer at a local fire department?

Thanks

Apply anywhere and a everywhere hiring or not.

Volunteer experience always helps out a bit but some companies may not count it as actually EMS experience.

Thank you

Consider looking into phlebotomy or transport at a local hospital, or driving chair car.

Look at local FD's. Some departments will allow you to ride along on squad runs as an "observer" until clinical time in your class.
Two of my previous departments would allow future students to ride, and mule equipment around on scenes, just not actually touch any pt's.
