Has anyone ever taken the Emt-B course in Hayden, ID. It is called the EMT & Fire training Inc. It is an online self paced course. Then after you get done you go there for a 5 days hands on training. They say 40 hours of hands on training. is that enough hands on training? Also is this a good place to get my EMT-B training? Thanks for any input.

I took my EMT basic class during the summer semester so it was 8 weeks of classes Monday-Thursday 5pm-10pm. We lectured twice a week and did skills twice a week. While it worked for me & my schedule I often went in early for extra help and to be able to go over things with the instructors just to make sure I was doing everything correctly. In my opinion 40 hours is not enough.... but thats just me :)

Good Luck with whatever you decide!

Thank you for some input angels.girl84. That was my first post on any chat form. I have always been interested in the medical field and I know this is what I want to do. I just have to find a school or somewhere to get my training, and that being said i'm kind in the dark. There are several places around here to get your emt training I just dont know which one is the best. That self paced online would be the best for my schedule, but its expensive and a few people have told me forty hours of hands on training does not seem like a lot. I'm just nervous about jumping into a course. Maybe I need to read more emt prep books. anyways thank you for all your help.

40 hours hands on is about average for an online course. You can do it, but don't expect to be an expert. That is the bare minimum. You should evaluate your goals in healthcare. If you will be continuing on to higher education, higher certifications or degrees AND you are very motivated to provide continuously improving patient care, then you will be ok with the a 40 hour hands on course as your STARTING point.
