Hi Everyone

I have just over a year that i will have to wait in order to finally start studying as an EMT. I have not yet done the EMR course either. I was hoping for some advice on potential material to go through that will give me a solid starting point for the course. I am unsure weather I should be looking up basic pharmacology, anatomy, or obstetrical emergencies.

Bearing in mind i will be studying in Canada, if that makes a difference.

Cheers

Hey a boyscout book and review the section to get your first aid patch.

Kidding.

Know normal vitals for adults, peds, and infants.
Know very basic basic anatomy.
Know anatomical differences between adults, peds, and infants.
Maybe watch some tutorials on proper use of OPAs and NPAs.
Get a BLS for healthcare providers CPR card.

The EMT courses are usually pretty cut and dry. You shouldn't have a problem.

Your course book will offer more information than you can possibly retain all at once. I might suggest a medical terminology book, definitely CPR, and how to orient anatomically etc... I wouldn't worry too much, they're going to drill this stuff into you.
