So a high ranking boy scout official just died and as captain my crew asked if we will be wearing our dress uniforms to the funeral. I know that we would wear them for other officials IE Police officers, public government officials. Is it appropriate to wear them for a high ranking boy scout?

I don't know what your organization's policy says, but in the volunteer squads with which I was affiliated, the rule was: if we went as a group representing the organization, we went in dress uniform. If we went as individuals, we dressed in civilian clothes.

The above poster nailed it. As a organization, you should wear formal uniform. If its only a few of you going, wear appropriate funeral clothing. Sorry for the loss.

I'm assuming you are an Explorer Post/Venture crew?

If so... and you are going to a Scouter's funeral representing both your agency and the BSA/LFL, you probably should wear your full uniform.
