Hello EMTlife.com!

My name is Alex (24 yrs) from Miami Fl and I am interested in perusing a career within EMS. Little information; Back in 2009 before graduating high school, I was part of the Fire Rescue Explorer program- from what I recall, it was quite fun and very emotionally rewarding. Till this day I look back and wonder- where I'd be today if I had chosen to stay on track with school!

Recently I made contact with one of my old teachers from the program who is about to retire after 28 years of service and he gave me a couple of suggestions. Initially- I told him I wanted to pursue a career as an EMT / Fire Fighter but that I knew things had changed over the last two decades and the hiring process had become a bit competitive.

He suggested I attained the following certifications in order...

1. CPR
2. EMT-B
3. Paramedic
4. Fire Fighter
5. Nursing

Currently I am living in Miami Florida and I am looking at two schools... the first is American Medical Academy and Miami-Dade Community College (Medical Campus). Does anyone have any suggestions about what school I should attend for each particular certification listed above? Any recommendations and or advice would be greatly appreciated!
