I did not see a thread about FR/EMR in quite some time so if I missed something, I am sorry.
I am trying to find an EMR or FR Instructor Class either online or traditional setting. They seem hard to find especially with the 2013 changes. Does anyone have any ideas on where to look? AHA seems to be obsolete now.
I am tasked with being the highest Line Officer EMS wise, in my Fire Department and between the cost of $1000.00 for EMT class and a demographic Firefighters who could pass EMT but elect not to try, EMR seems like a place to be. I would love to teach them to be EMR's for the obvious reasons, we are very rural and depending on the time of day and weather conditions, BLS can be 15 minutes away and ALS another 5 to 10 minutes...arming these guys with something that they can do, it is worth the weight in gold. There have been times in the past where I requested aviation to respond, which they did, because the Medic and Nurse were going to be the first ALS Providers my pt. got.
So it is outside of the box out here and having EMR's that can support me and the others above me, makes sense. Any ideas folks and thanks.
