Hello,
I haven't been here in a while, but I am helping develop a driver training course for the service that I work for and would like to find some video clips of proper use of the brake and accelerator pedals. I need it to show how the pedals are feathered up and down to avoid sharp movements of the vehicle to avoid throwing the attendant and patient around inside the box. If any of you have a link to or a video of this please let me know, it's been a challenge to find what is needed to finish this course out.

Have you thought about adapting an existing program, like CEVO(3)? It's a good base program, offers a solid foundation for department policies or specialized training, and recognized by insurance companies and other services...

I hadn't seen that before. Thanks. I know the company is trying not to spend any money if they can help it, so I may end up having to do these videos on my own.

I understand the interest in saving money, but it's worth getting in touch with your vehicle insurance company-- as they may give you a discount on coverage for drivers trained through this standardized program (at minimum).

I know that where I used to work in Houston, TX did have a standardized training course that was approved through their insurance company, and it did save them money. The service I work for now is in GA, and they don't get any subsidy for the city/county, so things are a bit tighter than what I'm used to. The budget might allow for that at some point, but right now I think they're just trying to get everyone on the same page.

VFIS has an excellent program - their training videos are really, really well done. I'm an NFPA 1002 instructor and I've used both the 1002 and VFIS programs; I've found that the VFIS program spends more time on the driving aspects (since the full 1002 course also covers pump operations); you may be able to get your hands on the VFIS lesson plans and possibly even the videos if you contact them.

They also offer a "Train the Trainer" class; I'm not sure what's involved with that but I seem to recall it wasn't a lot of money.

Thanks for the information. I think I've gotten everything that I need though. Y'alls help is greatly appreciated.
