There is a song called "T.n.T. (Terror 'N Tinseltown)" by Mötley Crüe (the song is a prelude to the song "Dr. Feelgood") in which you hear a woman, apparently over a PA, say, "Dr. Davis, telephone please," which is followed by a clip of a male, apparently on a radio, giving a report of a "possible OD" patient, followed by the sound of sirens and tires squealing.
On the episode of Emergency! that was on today, as background ambiance, there was an announcement over the hospital for Dr. Davis (I forget if it was to go to a particular room, or that there was a phone call for him, or what).
Those are the only two specific examples I can name, but I know that over the years, I've heard the name "Dr. Davis" numerous times in television shows and movies. It's always in the same way, too, like the name is called out over a PA system, and it's always in the background. It's not part of the storyline, just something put in for audible filler.
Is this just a wild coincidence, that the same name is used so many times in similar situations? Did the entertainment industry decide that "Dr. Davis" would be the standard name to page for filler audio? Or is it an homage to someone, or a tribute to some real Dr. Davis, or what?
