I live in the Dallas/ Ft. Worth area in Texas. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where to apply. I have applied for Careflit and Medic One which i got denied for lack of experiance. Im a new EMT and wanna get experiance but how am i supposed to get it if everyone wants experiance ? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated !

Private Ambo services.
Emergency and non-emergency transports are your way to go in the Dee Eff Dub. For a year or two anyway. Grab a phone book and look up ambulance. I suggest starting with the first company you see and go down Filling out applications as you go.

I just realized i spelt experience wrong on every part of that post sorry about that. I think thats what im gonna have to do. Thanks for the idea.

You can try MedStar. They do 911 for Tarrant County which is Ft. Worth + like 13 other cities. Good luck though, I hear it's tough for EMT's...they're mainly looking for paramedics. You can also try CareFlite Ground. They mainly do transfers but have a 911 contract for one of the surrounding counties (Johnson County, maybe?)

yeah they have to contract for johnson county and they just took the contract for the city of balch springs.

911 companies are medstar (tarrant county), careflite (johnson county and city of balch springs) amr (city of arlington, collin county, and hunt county)

all of those companies also do emergency and non-emergency transfers throughout dfw. there's also tlc, lonestar, and guardian.

Do you know anything about guardian ? I sent in my app and hopefully get a call back.

On the Dallas side of DFW, you'll mainly be working IFT as fire based EMS has that side locked down.

On the west side is where you stand a better chance of private 911, but like stated, MedStar pretty much has all of Tarrant county + the city of Burleson, while CareFlite has Johnson county outside of Burleson. AMR has 911 in Arlington. AMR also has Collin County 911 (shout out to Amber :P). There's also ETMC in the eastern part of east DFW.

IFT wise, there's Guardian, One Star, Halo, AMR, and a ton of other small companies. There's a guy in my medic class that just got hired with CareFlite Ground in Dallas, and starting pay for Basics there is actually pretty good at $13.30/hr

don't know much about them. i know they are still trying to get settled in dallas. they probably pay better than amr does. we call them the new lifeguard since amr bought lifeguard all of their employees went to work for guardian since they all hate amr.

AMR also has Collin County 911 (shout out to Amber :P). r

woop woop!!! how did your clincal go the other day. i'm surprised we didn't come back to mckinney that day, it was crazy busy for us.

We had 3 nurses + one new nurse and 1 tech, plus me, the entire day. They had every single room filled the whole day, and another 10 or so in the waiting room when I left. I didn't get a lunch break and was up at 5am, and didn't get home till 830pm.

We flew 2 people out, one to Parkland and one to Childrens.

I'm actually back out there tomorrow, too bad you're not A shift.
