Hey, what’s up, everyone?
So I dunno if anyone had seen the thread I had made awhile ago about getting a Michigan license through reciprocity. But, the long and short of it is, I’m currently a paramedic in the Chicago area and will be moving to Michigan. (Partly for school.) I am in the reciprocity process, and in the meantime am trying to learn stuff about more companies around the area.
Someone from out here had told me they heard there were some contract issues around Detroit. I was looking to maybe work closer to the Ann Arbor area (although I am hoping to live no overly far from Wayne State University School of Medicine (Although I will be attending Eastern Michigan University) and I know companies like HVA and Star are around the Ann Arbor-ish area. I wasn’t sure if these “contract issues” that I heard were rumored were true and, if so, if they affected the suburbs west of Detroit.
Moreover, I have a paramedic friend out in Detroit who made a facebook comment the other day of “Really done with this Ann Arbor 911 calls…”. Last I heard, she did not work for a company that worked out in Ann Arbor (although I just sent her a message asking where she works now-who knows, maybe that was her area and she was just having a rough night.) but if she doesn’t work out there then that makes me wonder if there are issues out there with 911 contracts and, if so, how that might affect what companies I would/should apply to.
So if anyone is from around that area or has any information hat can confirm or deny these rumors, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks and Happy EMS week everyone! ^_^
