...the 'lurking' closet that is. I have been a silent member for a long time and now I'd like to participate more. I am a retired Oakland firefighter and now have my own business teaching emergency response to businesses. I think this forum is a good resource for me to stay 'current' on issues, as I have been out of the field for six years now. I appreciate everyone's input. I do miss the field sometimes, mostly because of the people I left behind; there's nobody as crazy-funny and as passionate as emergency responders!

...all things considered, what with the economy and 'special program' funding all but wiped out. I guess I'm really lucky to have a business like this in earthquake country...that sneaky possibility is always in the back of everyone's mind...you just don't know when the next one's gonna be.
