CITY HOSPITALS SENDING HELP
MEDICAL TEAMS GOING SOUTH

By BARBARA LAKER & RONNIE POLANECZKY

THE DELAWARE VALLEY is responding en masse to calls for medical help in the hurricane-ravaged South.

Einstein Medical Center's chief of emergency medical services, Dr. David Jaslow, is already on site in Louisiana, working with the Federal Emergency Management Agency to coordinate response to the hurricane, says Einstein spokeswoman Jackie Kozloski.

At the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, says spokeswoman Rebecca Harmon, dozens of surgeons, nurses, pulmonologists and others are awaiting assignment to field hospitals around New Orleans.

Just a smart-a** comment..

Dr. Jaslow PRESENTED at EMS Expo last Thursday. Either he just earned a LOT of frequent Flyer Miles (including the national guard kind) or he never left.

He is a great guy, and I knew he would be one of the first folks in...

On tuesday when administratrion comes back in, I'm going to see if we can get a team together from our dept to go down there. Obviously we will have to be paid for time missed, but I think sacrificing the pay to help out is definitely justified.

We just flew my boyfriends brother up from N.O. and he is just devastated, emotionally and financially. I had already made up my mind that I wanted to help, but talking to him really hit home for me. I'll let ya'll know what I find out.
