Ok: I'm joining NOW. Also, isn't it true that only F.O.O.L.S. play with matches?????

I don't know... I wouldn't spend 600.00 on a leather helmet to join anyway. Think of the whacker stuff I could buy on eBay with that much!

:o I COULD BUY MY OWN AMBULANCE

Pleather?

I've not heard of this.

It's actually an International organization!

I am proud to be a FOOL.

I believe that leather helmets and boots are wonderful products. I also believe that they have saved my tail numerous times. Once you go leather - you don't go back!!

I disagree... :( I went back alright, and boy did it hurt!

Everyone said how great leather boots were, so I bought a pair. OMG! Are they comfortable, and warm... Your feet will love you, great for the winter, your feet don't fall asleep while driving like in rubber rangers. The gripped the ground like claws, and it was worth every penny of the $350.00

Our department buys everyone new, light weight Globe bunker gear. New leather boots too. They are even more comfortable and warm than my old ones!

BUT

No, really, my butt! My butt hates rubber boots. The new ones have about as much traction as if you were walking inside a stainless steel globe filled with oil. The first time I wore them, in the fall, the ground was frozen. My feet slid right out from under me, I blamed the wet grass. Winter. I'm running to my POV, my feet don't stop when I do, I fell backward and my head hit first, so I didn't feel when my butt did.

If they are new, scuff them up, get that new rubber shine off the sole.

Rubber boots are nice for Haz-Mats - You don't have to throw them out afterwards

And I actually prefer a "Metro" for extrication work - lower profile and less weight. Doesn't look as cool, though
