Hi all,

First post from a lowly newbie, though I've been lurking for a bit.
Anyhow, is there a rough guide to how the various training/cert levels line up between US & Canadian categories?

I'm less than two weeks away from my EMR course finals, with provincial license testing to follow, hopefully during the summer. Yeah, I know it's not the be-all and end-all of knowledge, but it's a start. Literally... I've been riding along with our local rural service for a while, and it will be nice to be able to help out in a more real sense.

As far as further training goes, how common is it for a service to chip in or fund further development beyond the usual re-certs and transfers of function? The time and money for this course wasn't unreasonable, and I'd like to learn more. Thinking to where I work in an unrelated field, there are courses which the company would pay for, but for which I'd have to pay them back if I leave within a certain period of time. I understand retention is often an issue, but this sort of arrangement can work well for service & employee.

Cheers!
