Greetings all..

New here on the forum..

Anyways, I just took a test online for my BLS (re)certification, and was about to pay for it and it said that some agencies that require a BLS certification may require that you take it in a classroom, and not online.

I'm an EMT basic.. not with an agency yet.. may start volunteering here soon.. do I need to take this test in a classroom??

 aw man, what a limited amount of smileys! =[ haha

Where/how did you originally become an EMT?

.. EMT school..

I have a BLS certification from american heart association, it expires this month

err.. I shouldn't have put "agencies".. occuptions rather.. don't know if I confused you

If you are talking about a BLS CPR class, then it does not matter where you take it. No one cares where you took and should not ask. There is no difference in the online and class room training. You still have to do a skills check off for both.

I can't speak for everyone, only myself. And speaking for myself, I can say that I am unanimous in my opinion that when I hear terms like "BLS certification" and "BLS recertification", what comes to my mind is "EMT-B certification" and "EMT-B recertification".

If you are talking about "CPR certification" (or recertification), which is also called (at least by the AHA) "BLS for Healthcare Providers"—admittedly, a somewhat confusing term—then you may find that you cause much less confusion in the future if you simply refer to that as "CPR" recertification rather than "BLS" recertification.

All the states that I am aware of require a practical skills check in order for them to accept the CPR certification. The AHA has a nice online BLS program where you can review the content via reading and videos and than you take the written and print out your certificate.

One of the local colleges offers recert this way... you just take in your online certificate, pay the fee, do the hands-on and in about 10mins your out of there...
