The people of a small Escourt village are still puzzled as to how a well-known lunatic could go on a rampage, killing his mother and a medic and stabbing three other people before he was killed by police on Saturday afternoon.
On Sunday shocked family members and others in Emangwe, Escourt, said it was known that Nkanyiso Hlongwane, 20, was a mental patient but they did not expect him to commit such crimes.
