Just wondering if there was anyone from round abouts Rochester who knew of a good Fire based EMS service in the area that was either Vollie or POC. Im lookin at moving to the area next year and id like to keep using my skills while my wife is in college. Ill be a FFII/EMT-IT by then so I would like to keep working on my skills while we are there.
Thanx

I live in the area, and after looking at the list of Ambulance providers I have noticed that there are hardly any fire based services in the state. The ones that do exist are large full-time FDs like Saint Paul Fire. One other way you could keep up your skills would be to take one of the local Paramedic courses. There are plenty of EMS and Fire Departments in the area, they just exist indepently of one another

Thanx for the reply. I was kidna seeing the same thing when i searched around online. Im hoping that maybe i can get a phlebotomy cert before we leave and get a job at a clinic doing that. Its mainly the needle sticks I want to keep doing. Not exactly the same thing as an IV but it works...

Well, good luck to you. I have noticed that MN and Wisconsin have some big differences in how they handle EMS. One big change has been a move away from EMT-I. There is only one program left in the state offering EMT-I. It has become EMT Basic or Paramedic with no in between level. Although there are probably quite a few EMT-Is left from earlier times
