Yes, In the state of Pennsylvania can you ride in the back of an ambulance if you depend on another person for your care? say like a son or a daughter.

Thank you, Lynn.

Do you mean the following:

1. Ride with a patient you depend upon?
2. Ride with a patient dependent upon you?
3. Are we talking riding or rendering care?

Not sure about Pensylvania laws, might want to parse this a little more clearly for the forum?

Thank you, Lynn.

For safety and privacy reasons, many places do not allow family to ride in the back. At my service, however, they are welcome to ride up front if they or their guardian signs the waiver.

I don't work in PA, but in my area there isn't a state regulation, it's regulated by my employer. It essentially says that family/friends may ride at the crew's discretion.

I'm also confused by what you are asking. Do you mean something like a caregiver riding with a disabled person?

This is the link to the PA EMS regulations website. Just glancing through it didn't find anything about riders under the law. http://www.dsf.health.state.pa.us/health/cwp/view.asp?a=170&q=236204

If you are inquiring because of a situation that happened, you may be better off calling the company/agency that transported the pt and asking them what their policy states.

I am also not from PA, but...

For and against:
FOR:
Makes people feel better.
AGAINST:
If something goes wrong you could be in the middle of it.
It is sometimes a big step up into modern modular ambulances, folks can get hurt accidentally there or elsewhere.

Me, I'd opt for the front seat if the company allows.
