okay im taking a pretest warm up of about a thousand questions it seems like and one of them is about "alcohol and eating results in delaying of gastric emptying." First, can this have a positive effect or negative or both? and culture's who do drink prodiminantly while eating are shown to have the best health per capita especially compared to the states so theres gotta be a link here because if it was negative then it would be mainstreamed, per se... so what do you think?

I think it sounds like your homework assignment :)

I think the word moderation should probably apply in there somewhere. Also bear in mind that many countries where drinking is prevalent probably tend to have healthier diets than the US.

Lots of fresh cheese, veggies and and an apple a day + a gallon of wine at each meal = longer life

Lots of highly processed foods, few veggies and no apple a day + a case of beer a day = fat happy unhealthy Americans

Alcohol and eating are two very important considerations for diabetics. Alcohol prevents the release of glycogen from the liver as the liver focuses it's efforts on ridding the body of the toxin (ie alcohol). So as you can imagine, a diabetic who drinks alcohol is mainly only going to have whatever food is in the stomach to use as fuel and to balance out the insulin or hypoglycemic med they are on.

Food can effect the absorption rate of alcohol. Your question wasn't all that clear.
