This may be a little off topic in a medical forum but at least in a narrow historical context of the idea of universal health care in the US now to be reborn under the Obama administration, I found this article illuminating. It was from "the Age" newspaper in Melbourne reprinted from The Washington post.

A lot of things go on that you never really hear about.

Interesting read. Thanks for sharing it.

Of interest

Thanks epi-do

It is interesting isn't it. Most people in aussie land would never have heard of the UAW unless they read a lot.

So many unions are tarred with the troublemaker brush and loathed by conservatives even EMS ones.

It just goes to show progress comes from all quarters even an auto union, go figure? I hope many readers in the US got past the sports section to read this article as well.

cheers

Hmmm, interesting read but it's definitely not fox news giving you both sides of the story. I'm no politician or wall street analyst and I can shoot holes in about half the arguments they make. To each their own, I'm glad the auto workers will continue making three times as much as me as long as they keep putting out decent vehicles.
