Hey guys. I got an EMR noob question. I just wanted to know what kinds of wounds are useful for 10X30 trauma pads. Pretty big :D

Thanks, John

When you have to stay out of the rain.

No, actually, are these the "combine" dressing type? A nonwoven permeable layer covering a soft absorbent layer inside like a huge Kotex or ABD 5X9?

Burns. Large area abrasions. Padding splints when there's broken skin under the splint.

If it as I described, it will wick away fluids so clotting will tend to take place in the bandage and not in the wound surface.

If it is just muslin or gauze, it will promote clotting but will clot to the wound if applied dry. This is not as bad as it seems; you stopped the bleeding and when it is taken off at the medical facility it will help debride the wound, just make sure the patient is full of analgesics and anxiolytics because it's going to hurt biggest time ("numah TEN").

I don't carry them and we deleted them from the trauma bags at work when control went from Custody to Medical.
