Surprisingly we didn't run any DUI wrecks, but we caught 3 calls and 3 posts. On our last call, dispatch thought it'd be ok to page us additional information without any radio communication of it which resulted in a response delay

I'm just hoping my Pokes pull through today when they play Kansas State. Admittedly watching Oklahoma State University football contributes to my poor cardiac health, but I'm loyal and true to my alma mater 🤠🤠🤠

He's just a Western Rat Snake aka Black Rat Snake. Nonvenomous, he'll grow up to be a good mouser. The downside is he'll also enjoy chickens and eggs when he grows up, but we also have hawks and coyotes so it's whatevs. Or she, I didn't learn how to sex snakes in college 🤷

Well I finally started on my half-butt excuse for a tune up, replaced the stock air filter today with a K&N high flow filter, tomorrow it's an oil change and ACDelco spark plugs. Tonight is four hours of overtime on our new 24 hour truck, it's set up and day truck and night truck shifts which I...

    Hospice patient declared dead but....

When it's questionable, we spend a good chunk of time making sure if they're dead or alive

We're slowly phasing out the old Dodges whose A/Cs don't work, trying to get rid of them as new trucks arrive but it's a slow process. Luckily our frontline trucks stay pretty well working and we have two reserve units that are also in excellent condition

I really need to tune up on my Silverado, I hit 100k on it around the start of the year so I'm overdue on it. It's still running fine that's just how my dad and grandpa always did it was tune up at 100k miles and then approximately every 50k miles

On Saturdays I work one of the rare stations where you can be alone with your thoughts for ¾ of the shift, so I used our downtime to put newly acquired shiny accessories on my pickup

    12 Lead ecg

We're absolutely allowed We're absolutely allowed to do that by protocol at both of my jobs. I'd base requesting ALS intercept on my location though, because at my full time job, our two east side stations are close enough to Tulsa that I'd be delaying care. Our west side stations and my part...

    12 Lead ecg

Just do what we can do in Oklahoma: get on the horn with OLMC, transmit the 12-Lead for interpretation, document the consult and doc who gave it. But I ain't getting a refusal without CRC consult AND OLMC consult if the doc says that there's anything concerning

Should I have had als on this call

Considering both what I've learned from experienced medics at my full time job and also that the hospital was 10 minutes away, I personally wouldn't have requested ALS. Other than that, I probably would've done exactly the same in this situation. Bear in mind, however, that A). I wasn't on scene...

I accidentally pulled a Ricky Rescue last week and wore an older T-shirt that's no longer an authorized uniform piece in public without even thinking about it. As soon as I realized it I was like "Crap why did I wear this shirt"

Newbie: What to do about feeling carsickness in back of ambulance?!

I second whoever said look out the window. As soon as I get oriented to the horizon I'm good. I also spread my legs and feet out as much as possible to stabilize myself in the seat
