CO exposure -- what would you have done?

The optimal Dx tool for someone with CO poisoning is Arterial Blood Gasses. Which i snot done in the field here, but is in the EMT-P scope of practice. Both Pt's required high flow O2 and transport. I am unsure if I would go " Hot" with that just because the mother does not need that added...

    From EMT-B to Paramedic

With working and going to school it depends on your program scedule. I am taking what is refered to here as an " outreach " program. The scedule is one week on ( mon- fri) and one week off to work with my service. I will need the cooperation of my coworkers to exchange some shifts so I can still...

How do ALS feel doing BLS calls?

ALS is standard level of care here. So it doesn't matter the call, they all get an ALS unit. We decide between us who is going to attend depending on Pt presentation and findings.

Why did you choose to stop at BLS?

Well I have been an EMT here now for 3 years and going to be starting medic school in January. I am continuing on because of three reasons: 1- It will be something that my kids can look up to nad be proud of. 2- I will be able to do the most I can for my Pt's with added skills and assessment...

    My first CPR.

If that would have happened at our facility here I would have D/C'd CPR as soon as I found the rigor and lividity. We as EMT's here have that in our protocol as well and do not have to contact Med Direction. I would have also documented the heck out of it just to CYA....... ;)

    Glucometer Blood...

It is very commonplace around here to take the blood out of the angiocath post iv start. We use Bayer elite glucometers and I have never experianced a large confliction between my reading and the one the nurses take at the hospital.
