    Bigeminy or paced rhythm?

I am still pretty new to EKG interpretation but, I would call that bigeminy. And in that case assume that he was likely having runs of V tach too.

    EVOC/CEVO course in SC

I appreciate it but, I don't have a commercial drivers license which I think is required. If it is not required though, I would definitely like to take it.

    Bgl

I read a study a while back about this. (I can't remember where so I can't link to it but, you may be able to find it). It says that venous blood is about 15 mg/dL lower than capillary blood. So as long as you take that into consideration when you test them then I see no reason why it would...

Full time college student and EMT/EMT-P School

I took the an EMT course while taking 18 hours of senior level undergrad classes in biology and it wasn't a problem at all. I ended up with a 3.78 GPA that semester without much work at all. As long as you are not having too much trouble with school as it stands now then I don't think it will...

how do nutrient get to cells of veins and arteries?

Yes. That is exactly how it happens. The gap junctions are really more for the rapid transfer of signal molecules and ions than for nutrient transport. Although they are involved in that to a degree. But, you are exactly right.

how do nutrient get to cells of veins and arteries?

The smaller ones are not connected to true capillaries but, the capillaries that branch off from them supply the interstitial fluid with more than enough nutrients. Since the outer layers of the arterioles and venioles that do not have the vasa vasorum are not too many cell layers thick then...

    Cardiac sound detection

I found a link on PubMed about the "disturbingly low" rate that physicians and medical students were able to identify "common" cardiac conditions via auscultation. I just thought it would be interesting to share the news and hopefully convince some other people that, while medical...

how do nutrient get to cells of veins and arteries?

Simplistically, gap junctions are areas in the cell membranes of some adjacent sells that have small protein formed channels. Theses allow ions and some smaller molecules to flow from one cell to another. It is almost like their cytoplasm is continuous with just some of the bigger molecules...

    EMS Physicians responding

I think it is a great idea. It may make the medics on scene feel a bit hurt. But, as long as the MD brings the equipment he needs to really provide a higher level of cane than the medics can then I see no reason that every service that can afford it should not have a responding MD.

    Obtaining BGL

Our medical control allows it. They actually advise us to do it on any pt we deem necessary.

    epi and nitro

I am not positive but, I know that the paramedic protocols where I work have them take extreme caution administering epi for allergic Rxn to pts with a know cardiac Hx. They are normally advise diphenhydramine if the pt is not in shock.

what do u do with ridealongs??

I just finished doing my ride alongs and I admit, it can be boring at times. But, Just make sure you take time to show them around the ambulance and how to use the equipment during down times. Most people will be afraid to ask you to show them how everything works. And make sure they know...
