    Oxygen questions

I am not able to answer either part of your question. I would suggest talking to your squad about permission to carry an O2 bottle in your car and keeping O2 at work. I know some people have said it is not a good idea to carry O2 in their POV. But in a lot of areas Police cars are now...

    FD responding to medical aids

In my area, during the day, the FD is dispatched for more calls. At night it seems they are dispatched to less, even ALS level dispatches. If we take a trip back in time to the 70's, the FD did a lot of fire prevention. and they were very effective with it, coz they almost put themselves out...

    Stroke patient dies...at shift turnover

OK, 1 more thing about this... it said they suspended both crew members... I know as a paramedic I am responsible for everything that goes on with the ambulance, even if I'm in the back. But in the back with a Pt, I can't control what my driver does. The best I can do is yell at them do...

    Stroke patient dies...at shift turnover

I hope this was to be sarcastic... because if this was not sarcasm, then this was one of the dumbest things I have ever heard uttered in EMS... we don't work 9-5 and we sure as hell don't always get out on time... we get late calls...it will always happen...and usually happens more when you...

    Stroke patient dies...at shift turnover

4 minutes makes a HUGE difference. I know the article was titled Stroke Patient, but the article said possible heart attack. either way stroke or heart...time is muscle/brain cells... If they did not divert would the Pt not have coded until they got to the hospital? Early treatment in...

    Ambulance Driver's License (ADL)

I can only tell you about NY, PA, and NH...neither of these require anything more than a standard driver's license to drive an ambulance. Most companies require you to do a CEVO type course, which they either do themselves or repay you to take. I have no clue how Cali works it

    Protocols outside CA

Apparently in NH no one is malnourished or gets Wernicke-Korsakoff Syndrome anymore here. I can understand issues with malnourished and I have heard talks of thiamine overdosing...but Wernicke, it is quite needed for that
