    COVID VACCINE - The Megathread

I don’t recall either of those being a contraindication by any drug manufacturer or regulatory agency. Can you please enlighten me with the pathophysiology of why any of the diseases you listed would increase your risk of adverse vaccine over the general population?

Dumb question but how much benefit is there to fixed wing over rotor given how close the islands are to each other? I assume that thing can’t fly all the way mainland.

    Tattoos

Hence why I stated it is difficult to determine the degree of impact. Some employers may not have a policy or a practice againts tattoos, but the unconsious impacts may extend beyond this. It will also depend on the applicant pool. Certainly during a time of fewer qualified applicants the...

    Tattoos

All behavior has consequence, you have to decide if the the pros outweigh the cons. Visible tattoos are going to limit some employment opportunities, it’s difficult to determine to what degree. You are applying to a saturated market, keep that in mind.

starting part time EMT course in 2 months, what area of study should i concentrate on in the meantime?

https://www.phecit.ie//Images/PHECC/Public%20and%20Patients/PUB041%20-%20Pre-Hospital%20Emergency%20Care%20and%20Scope%20of%20Practice.pdf Looks pretty close to EMT B to me, and less in many ways. Apparently you can’t put ears on a chest or calculate a GCS?

Just keep in mind that it looks unprofessional to disparage another medical system/provider, no matter how good it may feel. Highlighting what will be different and will be an opportunity at the prospective employer will look much better than simply complaining about your last job. Consider...

Stressed guys messdd up on some calls.

Not getting a BP isn’t the end of the world. There are many ways to document perfusion status beyond a BP. Heads up, if you ever get an LVAD patient there is a really good chance you won’t be able to get a BP in the field. I don’t reduce my ED triage based on the lack of an EMS vital sign...

A normal H&H is common in early early trauma, as well as normal ranges for many other labs. Also if the patient is very early in trauma they may not have extensive external signs of trauma. Bruising takes time to manifest (and resolve) and cannot be used as a reliable timeframe indicator in...

    Accepted to RN bridge!

If you get the chance do your peds clinicals in a high acuity PICU, NICU, or Peds ED. There is a big difference between taking care of kids who are mildly sick and can't be at home versus those who are actually critically ill and you make a substantial difference for. In my opinion if people...

    Anyone using Ultrasound?

I’ve played with it but didn’t love it, although that was very early in its development and it might be better now. I have and prefer a butterfly IQ. The image quality isn’t as good as something like a GE venue, but is more than adequate for line placement and POC exam. I do really like that I...

    COVID VACCINE - The Megathread

Got my second a bit over 24 hours ago. My arm hurt pretty good from about 3-16 hours in, but otherwise I feel fine. Did have some chills and body aches with the flu shot months ago, but nothing with the Covid ones.

I encourage you to consider how often you see a sick patient in a day. When I was in the fire service I saw maybe one clinically sick patient per shift, certainly in a high acuity ED you will see much more. It is hard giving up the bus, but the ED really can be a great learning (and pay)...

I carry my personal AED (lower 1/2 of sternum, 2-5 joules) and an emergency ‘I fight what you fear’ tshirt for the obligatory news interview.
