    Encouraging and discouraging transport

Ok. For example what if someone is experiencing one of the things I named, and says “do you think I should go to the hospital?” Then what?

    “An assessment”

that answers my question. I think a lot of the reason for all my questions is assessment in general is a weak point for me. Not the actual steps to it, that I can do in my sleep, but when to assess what and how to document it, what is considered something etc. the rest of the skills and...

    Encouraging and discouraging transport

I want to inquire a little more on advising people to not go to the hospital. I mean I know you can obviously advise them not too in a situation such as a “stubbed toe”, but what about something like chest pain, head injury, abdominal pain etc., when you can’t see inside the body to rule out...

    “An assessment”

When someone in EMS says “an assessment” generally, what level of assessment are they referring to? A whole head to toe, or just whatever the situation constitutes? What is the least you would consider “an assessment”?

    When to discourage transport

I have not argued once. In most of the threads, you’re the one doing the arguing

    When to discourage transport

That is the exact opposite of the truth. If I didn’t care I wouldn’t ask. Most questions I ask don’t get answered. I usually just get told how stupid I am.

    When to discourage transport

    That is certainly not true

    When to discourage transport

That is for tidewater region. I am in the southwest region. Our protocols have no sections for refusals.

    Assessment

That doesn’t really help me. I know that, but is asking like I said in the previous post enough to justify being “assessed” and selecting no abnormalities if there are none?

    Assessment

Honestly you’re probably right on the overthinking part. But to ease my overthinking, what is the answer to the question?

    Assessment

Nope. You would be totally wrong on that.

    Assessment

So let me ask this. If you have a patient with an isolated complaint, and you ask them “are you having any pain anywhere else?” Or “ is anything else bothering you” and they say no it’s just the one isolated complaint, is that sufficient to say you’ve assessed all the areas aside from ones...

    Assessment

If you ask the questions, and “decline to evaluate”, would that be “no abnormalities” since you asked about it, or “not assessed”?

    Assessment

I know this is old, but I am just looking back over things. I know what you’re saying, but by “not assessed”, do you mean didn’t ask questions related to it, or didn’t actually expose and touch, or what? Or vice versa, if you mark “no abnormalities” would you have to have actually exposed and...

    When to discourage transport

My agency protocols have nothing referencing refusals. Neither do the regional protocols. I can send you a pdf of my regional protocols if you do not believe me. My agency protocols are only on paper, so I can’t easily send them.

My agency protocols have nothing referencing refusals. Neither do the regional protocols.

    When to discourage transport

I asked this in a series of questions a few days ago, but I want to get some more insight on this particular topic. When can you suggest a patient not go to the hospital? Of course you can for the stupid stubbed toe calls, but where do you draw the line? With the slightly more serious things I...

    Questions

So we don’t have protocols for refusal of care. I think that concerns me the most. Are we really qualified to say someone doesn’t need care? I mean know the obvious simple stuff, but what about if let’s say someone hits there head, but has no deficits, or any things suggestive of a head injury...

    Questions

So I have quite a few questions here. Hopefully I won’t get berated for these… If you get the classic call that someone wants to be “checked out” for some random reason, what all do you do? Do you just check vitals, or what all assessment would you do? I know that’s situation dependent, but...
