Ok. I just started the EMT course on Saturday. The instructor told us that paramedics are able to run chest tubes here in Colorado. Is this standard around the country? Or is it something that is just limited to a few states? Just curious and am wondering if this is a national thing or state.

No FISDAP for me. Everything is on paper. A three page pt care eval along with a one page ride along eval for the preceptor. The ride along eval is also used when doing the ER clinicals. A minimum of five pt's for the pt care eval for each ER rotation.

33 here. Starting class on the 24th. One week!....Cant wait!

No stetho or cuff yet. Maybe that will come later. Price actually isn't that bad. Just wasnt prepared for it. It is only two books but their fat books. Books that I will probaly use for the rest of my career. So I think it's worth it.

Im like you Tiki! I am so caught up in it that I'm already studying stuff. I'm 30 and starting my school in Jan. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels, (fealt), this way. I was thinking that I might be a bit late in getting started.

Im 30 and start EMT-B school on Jan 23rd. Im was feeling that I might be alittle late because of age, but then I just realized I might have a heads up somewhat due to regular life expierience. LOL

Get through EMT-B school, less coffee, more exercise, more hunting and fishing!

Not really the reason I stopped. Just tired of the BS. I would rather deal with the public and help them instead of dealing with inmates. Did it for 8 years. Just ready to do something that I feel good about. Ya know what I mean?

Thanks for the replies! The way I understand it now is that my school requires the clinicals to be split between the ER, FD, and EMS. Im not sure on the schedule or how often. Guess Ill find out when I get there.

I am a student and not a EMT-B yet. But I have had my share of exposure to HEP, HIV, TB, and whatever else you can think of that is running around within the body of state inmates. I was formerly a correctional officer at a state prison in California and have been stuck with tattoo needles...

Can anyone tell me what the majority of the cliniclas will be like or what they consist of in the EMT-B school. I am getting ready to start the school on Jan. 23rd and would just like a heads-up on the clinicals, ie. how often, when, where, etc. Thanks a Ton!
