    Volunteer Oppurtunities in Southern Alberta?

I know that when I worked for Prairie EMS a few years back they hired EMR's on a casual basis. They operate in north east alberta, but if you are willing to travel a bit, they are a good company. http://www.prairieems.com/Prairie_Emergency_Medical_Systems/Welcome.html I also know that the...

    IV/Monitor?

...To the OP The thought process of your preceptor seems to be a little suspect. The numbness and tingling are just from hyperventilation? Perhaps, but until spinal injuy is ruled out, it stays in the differential. One could argue for or against a cardiac monitor in this case, I'd put it...

Maybe the wages in the USA are a lot worse, but there are many places in Canada where one could make a good living. If I was able to take a BA in paramedicine in Alberta, I'd do it in a second.

    ECG Elecerolyte Abnormalities

Funny you should mention that, we had a hyperkalemic pt the other day. The pt was alternating between a widecomplex brad and asystole. TCP captured @ 60BPM, and 89 milliamps. It worked quite well till we arrived @ the hospital and the pt was given the bicarb, ventolin, calcium chloride combo...
