Context? My guess is that she's just playing a game with you. And I think she won.

    Michigan EMS

It's my impression during my brief time there that the city alone keeps them quite busy. And they're actually hiring paramedics with a sign-on bonus. That being said, I'm glad my company has never made a decision without first ensuring it was financially secure for years and years. You're...

Is CPAP the Standard of Care?

If my CHF patients have had peripheral edema, it has been pitting 100% of the time. What I meant is that there have been certain times when a CHF patient has not had significant swelling in the periphery.

Is CPAP the Standard of Care?

    It's very possible.

Is CPAP the Standard of Care?

...Just listen to lung sounds. I don't feel comfortable telling an Intermediate that says they don't know how to recognize CHF to treat all patients with fluid in their lungs with the CPAP, but I'm just saying that it's a BIG indicator. Severe difficulty breathing, history of CHF, fluid in the...

Is CPAP the Standard of Care?

Well, look for peripheral edema. Other than that, just listen. It's hard to miss in CHF emergencies. I mean, that's just the EMT-I answer, but for your purposes, if there is fluid in the lungs with a history of CHF...(and even better, if you can rule out pneumonia and the...

Is CPAP the Standard of Care?

Standard for CHF, VERY selective for COPD. And to answer the above question, fluid in the lungs.

    Sodium Bicarb.

Sodium Bicarb is responsible for every complete cardiac arrest recovery that I've had. On patients that are in cardiac arrest because they skipped dialysis (very common around here), it's a wonder drug. From Asystole to Sinus with a pulse almost instantly. Very selective use, but for that...

    Michigan EMS

Actually, DVA isn't bad. Except that they work out of vans. Good calls though. Walk-in arterial bleeds to Hurley, prisoners swallowing bags of cocaine, victims being thrown out of cars at 60 MPH, and so on. Never encountered any violence against us though.

    "Ticker" box/RoadSafety-Do you have them?

The first. And we've given up reporting it. We like it this way.

Get National Registry, mail ___ dollars to the state government, and get license.

    Michigan EMS

I'm not sure what you're asking about. Providers? Good places to hang out? Friends? Oh, you mean how Michigan goes about recognizing certification/license in another state?

    "Ticker" box/RoadSafety-Do you have them?

Company has it, but the one in our truck is broken. Has been forever. No one has bothered to fix it. Thank God.

Yeah, we've taken 4 patients on one ambulance before. That being said, all from the same scene.

Sometimes I wish the hospital would not sedate my psych patients before

I hate to say it, but if the patient is completely sedated, is it really so damning to keep one eye on a personal entertainment device and the other on the monitor/IV/patient? I don't believe so. I've never found it necessary to have a staring contest with a stable patient the entire 2 hours...

Sometimes I wish the hospital would not sedate my psych patients before

Guess we should have established the difference between the average Schizophrenic and the criminally insane / psychopaths.

Yeah, that makes perfect sense. It's the right thing to do, just a PR nightmare. Can't be helped though.
