    swine flu--is anyone concerned?

Friends and family have asked me the same thing. "Aren't you gonna get the shot?" I say no I'm not, thanks. My reasoning is that myself and my girlfriend are in a combined 10 or so facilities a day, ranging from doctors offices to ER quarantine rooms. I have personally transported a couple...

LEO Refuses to do CPR on Child Drowning Victim... Right or Wrong?

There are a LOT of "what-ifs". But since this is an actual patient and not a hypothetical one I think the only "what-if" that I would be concerned about is "what if I had done more?" . The difference btw to me between an adult and a child is that the adult has had time to live his life and...

LEO Refuses to do CPR on Child Drowning Victim... Right or Wrong?

I can't really say whether he was right or wrong, I wasn't there, but I can say I'm sure I would have done everything in my power to resuscitate the child until medics AOS...Policy or not, barrier or not, I wouldn't want to think for the rest of my life "Could I have done more? Why was I such a...

Fireman Suspended Over US Flag Decal

Here's a comment on the subject: The locker does not belong to him. Ever hear the phrase "when you're in MY house, you play by MY rules? He broke the rules and now he has to sit in the corner, if he decides to continue breaking the rules, then he can't play there anymore. That's how it should...

Does your dept get reimbursed after a field pronouncement?

I don't see a problem with billing a deceased Pt (ins, or family). I don't think it's any different than a stay in intensive care prior to death, just because you didn't live doesn't mean money and time wasn't spent on your care.

Health Care Workers Protest Mandatory H1N1 Vaccination

Anyone else think that maybe there's just too many people on this little planet and that some of us have to be weeded out? I mean we can't cure everybody of everything. I won't be getting the flu shot this year, and I never have. I WILL however keep following standard precautions for all Pts and...

Driving Record Not Perfect...How To Get Hired??

Isn't the most pressing issue the fact that you are only 20 and most companies won't let you drive until 21? I don't see what your "record" has to do with anything at this point. I know plenty of people who are non-drivers because of their record or age. They had no problem getting hired around...

    ambulance driver insurance?

Our private service here and all the others I know of around here won't hire drivers under 21. That being said, we have EMT's who are 19. They just don't drive. Our service and others in the area will hire "Non-Driver" EMTs. They make $.75 less per hour than a EMT Driver. That's $13.00 instead...

    Unions, for or against

I'm all for em! I like 'em in a stew, on the grill, sliced on a hamburger, in soup, hell I like 'em raw! My favorites are the red union and the Vidalia union, they sure can grow good unions down in Georgia! I don't like the wild unions though, they make my lawn smell bad in the spring.
