    Double Pediatric CPR

Any chance those kids ever had at life was because of you and your partners. Unfortunately their fate was sealed at the hands of those who were supposed to protect them, long before you were ever called to intervene. I have worked a lot of pedi codes. It never gets easier. Make sure you...

    Paramedic to RN bridge?

That's great to hear Schulz! Drop me a line and we can catch up! I have a feeling we might be pursuing similar paths...

    Paramedic to RN bridge?

Schulzenstein... Here I am in the middle of typing a lovely reply to your PM and I come back to see you outing me to the whole world! When are you on Skype next? I have too much to say to you, and can't fit it in a PM! Hope all is well... You still hanging around with Dooglas?

    Paramedic to RN bridge?

It is interesting how moods and attitudes change region to region. In my area there seems to be equal respect for both mid level positions amongst physicians, however if the scale was to tip, it would favor PAs, IMHO. I have seen the mood towards NPs begin to sour (not in a huge way, but a...

    Paramedic to RN bridge?

Fair enough, to each their own. Please don't take my comments as attacking or accusatory, but I have been in the same place as you, many years ago, and asked similar questions. You talk about getting a bachelor's degree you have no interest in, yet you talk about getting a BSN simply as a...

Perhaps paramedic school isn't for you

If EMS offered any professional motivation for remaining in the EMS career field, then perhaps it would retain more career professionals? The problem is not the students entering EMS as a profession, it is the profession that fails to retain them. Quite frankly, the nursing, PA, and...

    Paramedic to RN bridge?

I think programs that allow students to go straight through to nurse practitioner should be banned. The experience nurses have going in to NP programs is the only reason they are remotely qualified to step up to mid level. If your desire is to go straight to NP, then why not seek out a PA...

    Paramedic to RN bridge?

I don't know how it is in your neck of the woods, but there are more nurses being produced down here than overall desirable nursing jobs available. 5-7 years ago new grad nurses could walk in and name their price here in Texas. Now it is not the case. Magnet facilities are requiring BSN at a...

    Weight does calculation

I am not sure what exactly you are asking... For a simple weight based dose calculation, the dimensional analysis should look something like this: (Dose / 1 kg) x (Patient weight / 1) x (med concentration- ml/mg) Each of the items in parenthesis should be written as a fraction, as in...

Fines for readmit patients and EMS

A terminal bachelor's degree that can lead to a specialized pre-hospital mid level provider would be interesting to consider. Ultimately, I don't see this having a large effect on the ER or pre-hospital EMS. Emergency Rooms have been monitored and penalized for patients presenting back to the...

    EMS vs Nursing questions

I get pretty irritated with CNA academies and training centers painting the C A career field to be brighter than it really is. I feel like they give a false expectation that becoming a CNA makes you essentially capable of filling a nursing role, which it does not. I don't even want to think...

    Laryngoscope handles...curved of straight.

My impression was the opposite when I practiced with them. Like I said though, I'm not a consistent user, and have never had a preference of one style over another...I've always been a "whatever gets the job done" type.

    Laryngoscope handles...curved of straight.

I like the feel of the intubrights. When I used them on the manikin I felt like it reinforced better positioning and "hand posture." To be honest, I have intubated so many times with the first handle available or whatever the anesthesiologist handed me, I rarely notice a huge difference anymore.

    EMS degree to Medical School

So the tests are pretty comparable in terms of rigor? Do most people use the same study/prep material for both (minus any OMM material.) I understand that students are expected to have picked up the same amount and type of material (for the most part) at the point which they take each step or...

    EMS degree to Medical School

I am fully aware of how DOs make great physicians like MDs do. If I came off inferring that DOs are in any way inferior, I apologize, and I hope it was only because of certain aspects of communication being lost over the internet. The suggestion I made about you digging on DOs would have been...

    EMS degree to Medical School

I misunderstood (though he was making a DO dig at you). I didn't realize he was talking about the test prep material at first. I guess that's what I get for trying to play with you two before I am ready.. Are you taking COMLEX and USMLE back to back, or do you have some time between the...

    EMS degree to Medical School

Why even do the online classes. I would think after watching a few seasons of House, Grey's Anatomy, and ER (throw in some Scrubs as an elective) and you would be good to go. ;) If that doesn't qualify you, then I don't know what would...
