Los Angeles - What good opportunities for employment?

Okay, I was thinking so. I did my last refresher with a couple Schaefer guys at Loma Linda just last year, so I didn't think they went out of business that fast, lol.

    Clincon

That's the best line-up I have seen from an EMS conference in a long time. I'm in.

    EMS in the Middle East

Probably a good thing that they are branching out across the pont. As fast as they are being run out of every major market in the U.S., they won't have anyplace left to go anymore pretty soon! Seshan, are you looking for EMTs of Middle Eastern origin, or just EMTs who work in the Middle East?

Where to go for high volume 911 (EMS only) work/employment.

Seriously. Don't forget your rat-proof boots.

    Stethoscopes....

Profane personal attacks? Good thing the moderators here don't care. I do too. But it's not a credit. It's a deficiency. Since your medics never get medic partners, they are grateful for whatever help they can get. But if they spent a few shifts with a real partner, instead of just a...

Los Angeles - What good opportunities for employment?

Where does Schaefer figure in there these days?

    Stethoscope - The Mega Thread

Huh? Did you try them out in the back of a moving ambulance? Did you try them out in the middle of the street with a diesel ambulance and two diesel fire trucks idling nearby? If you had, you would have quickly seen the difference. There is a reason the cardiology is so heavy.

    Stethoscopes....

It doesn't matter if you have a doctorate in rocket surgery, man. That's yesterday. Today you are in EMS, and you are back at square 1. You now have to work your way back up another totem pole. If you don't like that prospect, you should have stayed in whatever field you were doing so...

    Stethoscope - The Mega Thread

I was thinking earlier today that there is probably a "Stethoscopes" thread in every category on this forum. It sure looks like it.

    Stethoscopes....

Most of us outgrew those silly platitudes after only a few years of experience. Uhhh... no. The silly saying you quote is referring to the simple ABC skills of BLS, not to BLS providers themselves. Epic FAIL. Ask me. Go ahead, ask me. I've been a medic in the field longer than probably...

    ER tech qualifications

Even if you can get it and pass it, having ACLS on your EMT-B resume is very likely to scare off any RN (usually the ones doing the hiring) from hiring you. It indicates a willingness and likelihood of you going on to exceed your scope of practice, which is a significant problem with EMT ER Techs.

EMT loses job for posting picture of murder victim on his Facebook page

I guess this means it's not going to be as easy as him simply being a man and falling on his sword. And perhaps it wasn't him after all. Although pretty unlikely, he wouldn't be the first person to have someone start a Facebook in his name. Regardless, this is just further proof that no good...

EMS Documentary Red Carpet Premiere California

No, I certainly don't hold it against them personally. I only resent the stagnating effect that it puts on the profession. I hate the game, not the player. ;)

EMS Documentary Red Carpet Premiere California

Ok, so not all of this is live-action, with some of it being "acted" and recreated, so it is not strictly a documentary in the purest sense. I don't have a problem with that, really. But I do wonder what exactly your goal was with the film. From the way you talk, I get the feeling that you...

EMS Documentary Red Carpet Premiere California

Yeah, I realize that difference between Norcal and SoCal, and thank goodness for it. And I remember the story from Oakland. But I also know that a lot of fireman wannabes still go the medic route trying to hedge their bets. That's what keeps the medic schools full.

    Stethoscopes....

I wouldn't go that far. I would however agree that few are doing it legally. ;)

EMS Documentary Red Carpet Premiere California

Of course, those cities are too stupid to even recognize what a non-sequitor that is. If they pay and regulate their FD as poorly as they do AMR, the results will be the same. There are plenty of FD based EMS systems out there regularly running in "overload" status like this. None of these...

By the same token, you could also say that it is because of them that you have so many mediocre medics, who went to a medic mill for the quickest patch they could find, just to get a fire job, when they never really wanted to be a medic in the first place, could you not?

    Archbald Community Ambulance and Rescue

Yeah, you can tell by the arched roofs. Do they have the sliding side doors, or the traditional swing doors?
