So, to get the blood back to the heart to help it keep beating? I googled, quick, but I'm sure that's not the whole picture. Ok. So if I do what I was taught and lift up the legs, is that harmful? Or is it just doing nothing? Mostly what I got out of that class is to call 911, which is...

Had my Red Cross first aid class today and we learned that if someone is in shock, you raise their legs 12 in. The instructor thought this was very important, but couldn't tell me why. And then got annoyed when I tried to google it on my phone under the table. I'm assuming someone here knows. B)

Mostly it appears as if the forum had too much to drink and is now doing that drunken lean to the right. I tried to get online with my droid and all the tilty made it freak out. It wouldn't even open links.

Volunteer Fire Department Runs Over Victim

There are deer grazing on the grass margins of the freaking toll road in Fairfax County. I couldn't believe it. I saw a dead one on the edge of the Beltway near I 66, also. I think deer are adapting nicely to concrete jungles.

Artificial food colors make ADHD worse?

I heard this on NPR the other morning. If I'm remembering correctly, there are a group of studies that say there's a link. This is what the FDA is investigating. I don't have the resources right now to go dig those studies up, but I'm sure they're easy to find if you have access.

    Trip to Europe

I'm going to Italy/Germany for our honeymoon. 3 weeks this summer. We've both been a few times to various parts of Europe in the past. It's expensive to get the plane tickets, but once you are there you can live at whatever price you need to. Because its our honeymoon, we're going to spend...

Oh god, I HATE that song. The school plays it on friday afternoons over the PA. It makes the kids happy, but it drives me nuts.

    NEW EMT-B confused

Ok. :) Its the internet. There's a lot about everyone that isn't apparent. Without typing, the spell check, and my little laminated list of words that I never managed to force into my brain, it would be pretty clear. I still don't catch it all, which never fails to make the forum (not just...

    NEW EMT-B confused

Oh, I did but Ill survive. You're hardly the first person who thought they were going to be clever and call me out on it. ;) Anyways, its never worth it to yell back at people on the internet. I figured id see what else you had to say. I teach school, remember? I've had kids in my room with a...

    NEW EMT-B confused

Nope. Really am. The "rather" was my attempt to place where I am on that spectrum. I have a few other labels which explain some of the other stuff I do, too. Not that it applies any more, but I have my old IEP (among other documentation) filed away. I don't view the dyslexia (or the...

    NEW EMT-B confused

Firefox does spell check while you type on the internet. I'm rather dyslexic and it keeps me from writing pure mangled garbage. :) Also, the OP wants a job in CA. There's a lot of people here who work in CA, maybe some of you would know of an opening he could apply for. I don't know if...

What are some things that you have been taught that is total BS?

So, I clicked through to see what that site was about. The person who is the admin there has the same name as someone I went to high school with. And it says his location is where we grew up. I looked at the picture. Yup. Same dude. He, ah, hasn't changed apparently.

    Menstrual blood loss

Not gonna lie, I'm rather startled to hear someone in the medical profession avoid saying "vagina" and use a silly slang term instead. I'm used to that from the immature teenagers I teach.

    Menstrual blood loss

Actually, I have a strong dislike for a blood soaked pad being held against my skin. I would rather deal with the cup or a tampon than pads most days. Removing a tampon is the same level of "mess" as removing the cup. Just wash your hands. *shrug* Being a girl, it's not like you can get...

    Am I the only one.....

Thank you. I kept trying to remember what the old one looked like and couldn't (hadn't seen it enough, I guess). It was driving me nuts.
